Who We Are:
The NBA character team is a small group of versatile artists taking on a variety of tasks. We create all of the players, coaches, mascots, clothes and shoes for NBA2K. In addition to the court game assets, we also create the story mode assets, and generate specialty items for the online store
What We Need:
We are looking for a very hardworking and motivated, Character Modeler to join the NBA 2K character team. As a Character Modeler you will be working on a variety of tasks such as player likenesses, clothing, texture variants, hair and more.
What You Will Do:
- Create photo realistic real-time game models including UVs and textures
- Attend team meetings
- Art asset integration into game engine
- Work closely with the Tech Art team, and other dependent departments, throughout the character production process
Who Will Be A Great Fit:
We‚ are looking for someone who is interested in taking initiative and is passionate about making great quality games. We are constantly challenging ourselves to try new things, and looking for someone who is up for that challenge! Willingness to take on a variety of character related tasks depending on the current needs is important.
- 3+ years of experience in modeling for films or games
- Portfolio of work demonstrating strong proficiency as a character artist
- Expert knowledge of Maya and Photoshop
- Ability to produce photorealistic models and textures
- Experience with Substance Painter (substance designer a plus)
- Experience using Zbrush or Mudbox
- Thorough understanding of character art pipelines with excitement to push for next gen techniques
- Ability to establish priorities and multi-task efficiently
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to collaborate productively with others
- Ability and interest in learning new concepts and techniques
- Passion for video games (not just ours!)

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be $17.50 per hour. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
