Riot Visual Designers create the best player experiences through their knowledge of systems design, interactivity, layout, typography, and color theory. Visual Designers collaborate with other disciplines and act as both artistic and design problem solvers. They understand players and ask questions about the what, who and how when solving for an interface or communication challenge.
As a Senior Visual Designer for the Teamfight Tactics Gameplay team, you will develop and execute visuals and UI for new set releases, in-game features, and gameplay HUD UI. You will report to the Visual Design craft lead while working with other UI artists, engineers, designers, and producers to create delightful and immersive UI that improve the player experience.
Responsibilities:
• Design in-game UI that balances functionality with aesthetics, while maintaining alignment with UX, product, and art direction goals.
• Create vector artwork, iconography, and export rasterized assets that are high-quality and optimized for the game engine.
• Develop solutions and improvements for TFT's UI with an understanding of systems design, style usage, and layout.
• Drive Visual Design work through each stage of development. From the early brainstorming phase to implementation in the game engine, polish, release, and even post-launch.
• Manage external vendors during production, ensuring style and quality bars are met.
• Collaborate with Motion Graphics to bring UI elements to life.
• Maintain source files and manage libraries for future development.
• Have ownership of multiple streams of UI work and lead the production of assets that ultimately enhance the player experience.
• Plan out work, define scope, and set expectations for development.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to other artists on the team.
• Maintain the quality bar for your discipline and be a UI and Visual Design advocate on the team.
Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years of industry experience as a Visual Designer, UI Designer, or UI Artist.
• Hands-on experience contributing to a major feature, game, product launch, or entertainment property through the craft of visual communication design.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating visual design creativity and understanding of UI/UX design in games and/or related fields.
• Knowledge of the game development pipeline and best practices, including optimization, localization, and implementation.
• Demonstrated mastery of visual design fundamentals: typography, layout, color, and iconography design.
• Experience with Figma.
• Experience with Adobe CC visual design tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with modern game engines like Unreal, Unity, etc.
• Experience designing player flows for cross-platform experiences (PC and Mobile).
• Experience in secondary areas such as Motion Graphics and Illustration.
• Knowledge of League of Legends / Teamfight Tactics IP and style.
