Job Description:
As a Line Producer, you will have different tasks across the show. Here is an overview of the Line Producer's role at Mikros Animation:
- Under the leadership of the Executive Producer and the local Head(s) of Production, the Line Producer is the main contact of the project. They form a real team with the Executive Producer to oversee and manage the production
- Alongside with the EP, elaborate and maintain the overall schedule, quotas, milestones and budget
- Responsible during production for the smooth running of the activities and ensures the respect of deliverables, deadlines and costs
- Responsible for leading the production process and ensuring successful delivery of animation tests and creative development work
Responsabilities
PRODUCTION STRATEGY
• Build and
operate a production strategy to guarantee delivery and quality (quota plan / approval charts and reports / ...) in cooperation with the Production Managers, VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisors and Department Supervisors
• Work closely with supervisors to ensure the work meets quality standards
• Actively participate to build / improve the production workflow, especially on client reviews, scheduling and deliveries, information flow and resources management aspects
• Participates to the redaction of the Critical Assumptions under the Executive Producer's supervision
• Ensure key creative leadership team works well together and manage them towards reaching and delivering the creative goals of the film
CREW
• Overall management of the show team
• Recruitment and close management, follow-up and training of your Production Manager team, and Production Coordinators if needed
• With the collaboration of the Crew Managers, ensure the balance in the salary grid of the show
• Manages hires and key members of the team while negotiating, with the HR, agreements with the artists
CLIENT
• Ensure a partnership with the client and follow the important topics on a weekly or monthly basis (Progress reports, quotas, cost reports, complexity, approvals, CBB, red flags...)
• Manage the deliveries, changes/adaptations in scheduling and budget if needed
Administration tasks
• Responsible for enforcing Show Start-Up checklist achievement
• Responsible for updating the show crew planner
• Responsible for enforcing Show Wrap checklist achievement
• In collaboration with the studio teams and operations management, plans the required material resources of the studio
• Show wrap: post-mortem, demo reels, show credits list
Schedule Management tasks
Breakdown / Complexity:
• Works with the Production Supervisor and the Production Manager(s) on a complexity plan that works within the framework of the budget and schedule
• Understands show complexity and works with the Creative leadership on the project to determine what is/ isn't achievable within budget and schedule parameters
• Initiates and leads complexity analysis meetings/simplification meetings with the client and the HOCA/VFX Supervirsor to maintain show on budget and on schedule
Scheduling:
• Creates and manages the overall show schedule. Work closely with Production Supervisor / Production Managers to ensure that schedules are accurate and up to date
• Works closely with VFX Supervisor and CG Supervisor to ensure the work schedule is on track
• Manages Client meetings with regards to Show Schedule and client requirements (screenings, T/O…)
Inventory / Quota:
• Responsible for getting creative inventory in the pipeline by working with Client to ensure approved T/O are delivered on time to Show Team
• Offers support and advises to Producers and Director to help manage quotas
Tracking / Progress:
• Measures and assesses progress and time to complete against original forecasts
• Brainstorms with Production Managers / Production Supervisors and VFX Supervisor and CG Supervisor on methodology to run project more efficiently
Show Process tasks
Reviews:
• Establishes the Production Workflow and Approval process documentation with Show management and shares with client
• Actively participates to build / improves the production workflow and approval process, especially during client reviews
Reporting:
• Provide weekly and monthly progress reports (actuals/forecast) to Client and Senior Management Team
• Leads weekly production meetings with client executive team
• Provide and frequently adapt a detailed project delivery plan to the executive producer and supervisors
Escalation:
• Report all issues and concerns with the Show to Senior Management Team
• Depending on the issues and the strategy decided with the Senior Management team, the Line Producer or the Executive Producer triggers a meeting with the Client
• Flags to the Client ahead of time (at least 2 weeks) if inventory is going to be missing and if idle time will occur
Team Management tasks
• Participates with Head of Crewing and Head of Production on transitions and casting of key artists
• Provides coaching and mentorship to department heads and production management.
• Works with the HR and Crew Management Team on employee relations issues involving the key creative leadership team and other issues elevated to him/her.
• Shared with the Production Supervisor, involvement with the interviewing, hiring process and deal negotiations for key hires
Resources Management tasks
• Collaborates with Resources Management Team to best align Render Farm/sync/software ressources to show needs
• Monitors Render Farm show utilization (actuals/forecasts) and resources
• Monitors sync show utilization (actuals/forecasts) and resources
Initiatives
• Monitors and makes recommendations for global improvements to production workflow, particularly with respect to scheduling, flow of information and resource management.
• Makes strategic recommendations relating to staffing, studio workflows and procedures
