We are looking for a Lead Technical Artist responsible for leading the development of technical solutions that optimize artistic workflows, ensuring that the technical aspects of the game are well-managed and aligned with the overall project vision. This role is essential to guarantee a high visual standard in games while maintaining efficiency, optimization, and scalability.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and direction to the team, ensuring alignment and focus on project goals.
- Design and oversee the planning and scheduling of the Technical Art department, ensuring proper task allocation and adherence to established deadlines while identifying and communicating potential risks within the project plan.
- Supervise game optimization and performance to ensure efficient functionality across multiple platforms.
- Ensure that code and technical implementations meet high standards of quality and stability.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between Art, Design, Production, and other teams to ensure effective project execution.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and technological advancements in Technical Art to propose and implement improvements and innovations that optimize team processes and outcomes.
- Lead, guide, and provide feedback to the Technical Art team to ensure the quality and consistency of delivered work.
- Lead the professional development of the Tech Art team through training, mentorship, and the adoption of best practices, ensuring their professional growth and alignment with the objectives of each role and the Studio.
- Collaborate with programming teams to develop and maintain tools that improve the efficiency and quality of the artistic process.
Requirements:
- 6 years of experience in technical artist roles within the video game industry, with at least 2 years of experience in team leadership or supervision.
- Experience with Python and C++ for tool creation and process automation.
- Experience in video game projects from pre-production to launch, with multi-platform experience (PC, consoles, mobile).
- Advanced proficiency in 3D creation software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine, understanding their architectures, workflows, and capabilities to maximize performance and visual quality.
- Proficiency in relevant programming and scripting languages, such as C++, Python, Lua, MaxScript, or Perl.
- Knowledge of optimization techniques for managing file sizes, polygon counts, loading times, and asset formats, ensuring a balance between visual quality and game performance.
- Familiarity with version control software such as Perforce or Git.
- Familiarity with production tools such as Confluence and Jira.
