Position Summary: The Middle and Upper School Studio Art Teacher, will teach a comprehensive art curriculum to grades 7-12. The curriculum will challenge students to develop their unique artistic voice. As an experienced full-time faculty member, this position also includes advising 8-10 students and supporting a co-curricular activity such as coaching or other academic school activity. Attendance is required at all-school faculty meetings, events, back to school nights, and department and divisional meetings after school.

Essential Responsibilities: Duties may change and others may be assigned
- Teach a full time schedule of middle and upper school art classes.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment within a Quaker community that encourages student creativity and self-expression.
- Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Organize and display student artwork around the school and at regular arts shows in the gallery space.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the school administration to support student success.
- Attend departmental, divisional, and all-school meetings as scheduled
- Continue to develop a diverse and engaging art curriculum for middle and high school students alongside the department convenor and Director of Arts.
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment, ensuring proper care and use of art supplies and equipment.
- Stay current with developments in education and the arts, integrating new techniques and technologies into the curriculum.
Education, Competencies And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or relevant discipline; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Experience with a variety of art techniques and mediums, including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and ceramics is required.
- At least 3 years of experience teaching art to middle and high school students.
- Strong knowledge of various art techniques, mediums, and art history is required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of diverse ages, abilities, and backgrounds; a deep interest in our Quaker mission.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration is required.

Salary: The salary range is expected to be $73,000-$85,000. The actual compensation, will be based on the candidates relevant and transferable years of service, and other factors, which include internal peer equity, the market and other organizational considerations. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
