Stardock is looking for an experienced 3D Animator with a passion for games to join our growing art team! Working on a small and flexible team, this 3D Animator will be responsible for creating detailed animation for a variety of characters, animals and fantastical creatures for an unannounced project.
This is a salaried, full-time position reporting to our Plymouth, Michigan studio. This position is open to remote and hybrid applicants.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Animating a wide range of human, creature and animal characters.
- Creating visually interesting combat animations for both human characters and creatures – magical and melee combat especially.
- Defining/developing interesting personalities for creatures, animals and characters through animations.
- Collaborating with the art team, engineers and designers to meet aesthetic goals.
- Assisting designers, engineers, and artists with gameplay prototyping
- Working with Maya and Unreal 5.
Education and/or Experience Desired:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or minimum of 3 years relevant game industry experience in 3D animation
- Strong understanding of traditional animation principles
- Proficiency in rigging and skinning game-ready assets is preferred.
- Excellent bipedal, and non-human organic animation skills.
- Interest in developing a variety of animation types.
- Proficient with professional software packages for 3D animation content production – Maya is preferred and used on this project.
- Proven problem-solving and prototyping ability.
- Self-motivated, and able to work autonomously.
- Experience with version control software (CVS, Perforce, etc.)
