Instructs pupils in visual arts in media such as: drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, digital design, art history, art criticism, and sculpting, by performing the following duties.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree Preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Three years successful teaching experience preferred.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares lesson plans according to District Pacing Guides and State Standards.
- Selects art supplies for student use in the study of the visual arts curriculum, adhering to the school's budget.
- Demonstrate a variety of instructional methods.
- Observes and evaluates students' work to assess progress toward mastery. Also implements instructional plans for individual student improvement.
- Maintains an orderly classroom conducive to creativity and learning. This includes organizational procedures for students, which is inclusive of individual portfolios, art word walls, and art history notebooks.
- Contacts parents concerning student academic progress, discipline concerns, and offers learning opportunities for parents.
- Participates in District and City student art contests and is responsible for displaying student art in the school, Central Office, and community.
- Makes accommodations, as required, for students with disabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Indiana Teacher's License in Art.
