Sr. Technical Gameplay Designer - skate.(Remote)

We are looking for a Senior Technical Gameplay Designer with experience mapping complex game controls to different controller/input devices. You will partner with the gameplay team to map out, implement, and fine tune multiple control schemes that apply the relevant ergonomic principles of accessibility and usability, while allowing for mastery over time. This role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, strong technical competency with visual scripting tools, and a deep understanding of the cognitive load placed on players.
As a Senior Technical Gameplay Designer reporting to the Lead Gameplay Designer, you will:
Responsibilities
What you'll do
• You will partner with the gameplay team, and collaborate with design leadership through all stages of development to ensure ideal controller mappings and documentation for each platform, input method, and player motivation.
• You will collaborate with other gameplay designers to map game controls that are easy to use, taking into account human physical and cognitive limitations and balancing them against design intent and mechanical depth.
• You will set up and refine the logic for low-level inputs in-engine using visual scripting tools and visual state machines.
• You will improve on gameplay feel by tuning details such as input dead zones, input buffers, and analogue magnitude thresholds.
• You will own, manage, and grow a collection of player-facing input options, and resolve complexities and conflicts that arise from their combinations.
Qualifications
What you bring
• 5+ years of experience as a gameplay designer working on AAA & or mobile titles
• Experience with visual scripting and related gameplay tools within engines such as Frostbite, Unreal, or Unity
• Experience with how to gathering and reviewing consumer feedback to make meaningful, data informed decisions.
• Understanding of long-term player habits and skill development over time
• Proven ability to collaborate and clearly communicate complex designs and issues
• Passion for promoting an inclusive and diverse, 'team-first' culture based on fun

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the range and benefits for your specific location.

Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
º $122,400 - $176,300 USD Annually
• New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
º $115,700 - $176,300 USD Annually
• Jersey City, NJ :
º $142,000 - $176,300 USD Annually
• Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
º $131,000 - $174,800 USD Annually
• Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
º $115,700 - $163,100 USD Annually
• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
º $107,600 - $147,100 CAN Annually
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
