Overview:
Reporting to the Sr. Director Brand & Product Marketing, the Graphic Designer provides in-house graphic support for Angels Baseball marketing initiatives and brand campaigns. The ideal candidate is comfortable understanding strategic insight and leveraging the Angels Baseball style guide in order to assist with a wide range of graphics across various platforms and from multiple departments. Responsibilities include producing artwork and compelling concepts that will enhance brand equity, fan appeal, and stadium aesthetics.
This position is also benefit eligible including: medical, dental and vision insurance, 13 paid holidays, sick days, vacation accrual (2 weeks vacation), tickets to games, 401K eligibility after 1 year of employment (employer matching and safe harbor) and additional perks not listed above. The expected annual salary for this position can range from $67,000-$73,000. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided.
Duties:
• Ability to manage and develop visual concepts for digital and print ads, venue graphics, outdoor billboard designs, logos, sales collateral, packaging, promotional graphics, social media, and web
• Develop and produce large format print materials for outdoor ads and stadium graphics
• Ensure creative deadlines are met by working effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment while maintaining brand equity and proper execution of marketing materials
• Communicate design concepts with clear reasoning behind proposed solutions
• Manage vendor relationships, perform vendor press checks, and oversee the procurement process as well as the production and delivery of a variety of print materials
• Create artwork for departments throughout the Organization in addition to Marketing; including but not limited to Ticket Sales, Entertainment, Stadium Operations, Human Resources, and Sponsorship
• Oversee the production of sales tools along with collateral materials for annual ticket campaigns and roll outs
• Design graphics as needed and mandated by Major League Baseball
• Support and fulfill graphic requests for Angels Radio AM830
Qualifications:
• Bachelors or Associates in Communication/Visual Design or related field
• Minimum of 4-6 years of graphic design experience in a sports marketing environment or agency/marketing design firm or organization
• A concentration in graphic design is required with a strong portfolio in digital and print with experience in motion graphics and editing
• Experience in developing localized marketing campaigns and promotions
• Good visualization skills and knowledge of multimedia preferred
• Strong knowledge of typography, layout, and branding
Non-technical skills to include:
• Organizational skills with strong attention to detail, ability to handle multiple, complex projects in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work well under pressure and accepting of constructive and subjective feedback on design recommendations
• Positive team attitude with excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills
• Applicants must be able to work independently and have the flexibility to work long and unstructured hours (including evenings, weekends, and possibly holidays)
• Possess a strong work ethic
Technical skill-set to include:
• Advanced knowledge of MAC OSX and proficient in Windows
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and After Effects
• Advanced knowledge in processes including working knowledge of print industry standards, vendor mechanical requirements, spec sheet interpretation, and print medium varieties and selection
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Office, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint)
• Large scale formatting for print is required
• Ability to create graphics optimized for social media, web, email, and other digital platforms
• Experience in selecting/purchasing stock photography and illustrations
• Motion graphics and video editing skills are preferred
• 3-D Animation a plus
• Expert in color grading and photo retouching
• HTML and CSS is a plus
• Ability to upload and approve proofs
• Proficient in uploading and downloading files from FTP sites
Physical Demands:
• Frequent sitting or standing for extended periods
• Repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement (while operating computer equipment)
• Occasional bending, stooping
• Eye-hand coordination (keyboard typing)
• Extended periods of reading fine print
