We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Junior Graphic Designer to join our dynamic team. You will assist in designing a variety of marketing materials, including but not limited to print publications, email campaigns, PowerPoint presentations, and other digital and print projects. As part of our design team, you will work closely with the Creative Director and marketing team to ensure that visual content aligns with our brand's messaging and aesthetic.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with all print production needs within the department:
- Create templates, assemble pages, and generate PDFs for upload
- Prepare images for print: photo editing, CMYK conversion & optimization
- Proof creative deliverables at various stages of production
- Create digital versions of all catalogs for internal and external distribution
- Support the Travel Agency team with materials for various clients and trade shows, including brochures, postcards, booths, presentations and custom travel agent fliers
- Create dynamic PowerPoint presentations for a variety of events such as worldwide company meetings, departmental trainings and brand partnerships
- Support the build out of digital prototypes for future web enhancements
- Contribute to the maintenance and expansion of our in-house photo library
- Partner with the Email Team to create engaging email campaigns
- Collaborate with various teams within Marketing to execute seasonal image refreshes across the digital experience including the website, social media and paid digital ads
- Maintain absolute accuracy and attention to detail throughout the creative and production process to deliver brand enhancing, innovative and effective marketing communications
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or associate degree in graphic design (or related field) or comparable professional experience
- A strong portfolio showcasing both print and digital design experience
- Technical knowledge and understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience using Figma a plus
- Photo editing with an emphasis on color improvement
- Publication development and design
- Experience setting up a variety of print collateral to meet printer specifications
- Strong creative and problem-solving skills
- A keen eye for photography, typography, color and composition skills required
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong design and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and deliver against strict deadlines
- Must be a great team player who is wired to collaborate

Salary Ranges:
$27.88 - $36.00
At Backroads, we uphold a commitment to transparency and fairness within our hiring process, particularly regarding compensation. The salary range posted for each role applies to both employment offers and employees actively working in the role.
New hires are typically offered a starting salary between the minimum and midpoint of the range to ensure there is continued opportunity for salary progression during your employment at Backroads, reflecting our commitment to rewarding ongoing dedication, high performance, and significant contributions to our team. Our office roles are onsite in our Berkeley headquarters, unless specifically noted as 'available for remote'. We do allow one work-from-home day a week, as well as one work-from-anywhere week per year. This pay range is intended for in-person work in our Berkeley, CA headquarters. Pay ranges for remote-eligible roles will be subject to adjustment based on the geolocation of the employee.
