Description
Cadogan Tate Miami Limited has an exciting position available for an Art Handler. The essential duties of this role are to work on and off site delivering / collecting, handling, installing and packing art works. We are looking for skilled Art Handlers and Art Installers, with truck driving experience.
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- A minimum of two years' experience in Art Transportation and Art Logistics
(e.g. Art Preparator, Fine Art Handler, Fine Art Preparator is applicable for this position)
- A knowledge of proper handling of art works using the appropriate materials and methods for packaging, loading and securing for safe transport
- Installation experience of a wide range of art works in different environments
- Familiarity with paperwork; Bills of Lading, Condition Reports, Inventory, Drivers Logs, etc.
- Ability to lift 70lbs
- Experience driving a Box Truck is a plus
- Professional appearance and demeanor
This a full time position, working Monday through Friday and some weekends. The company provides competitive hourly pay, excellent benefits and PTO package. The candidate must be able to provide proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities for an Art Handler are the followings:
- Collections and deliveries on a daily basis, locally and interstate as needed
- Handle and control all paperwork when on site or working in the field, including all condition reporting for goods
- Ensure vehicle used is always safe, clean and prepared for the day or trip as required, verify what goods are needed at the start of every day or trip based on the daily trip sheet or trip manifest
- Ensure all modifications to daily trip manifest are reported and verified by the Dispatch Manager prior to making any modifications
- Proper handling, of art objects, fragile and artistic material, antique and fine furniture
- Assist with installation projects
- Preparation of condition checks and condition reports as needed
- Pack artworks, antiquities and fine furniture for transportation and storage
- Training lower grade art handlers when required
- Assist in the loading and unloading of Cadogan Tate trucks
- Ensure a high degree of detail and focus on every job
- On occasion you may be required to start your day or end your day at a location other than Cadogan Tate Miami Limited, in these instances you are required to complete a manual time sheet and to have this signed by the supervisor or your manager within 24 hours of the start or end of the day.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
· High school diploma / GED required
· Three years of experience in the art handling industry; packing, handling and installing on a local and interstate basis
· Three years of logistical, warehousing and moving experience
· Understanding of inventory processes and the ability to learn how to improve on handling art and antiquities from collection through to installation
· Excellent problem-solving skills
· Familiarity with OSHA regulations
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Impeccable communication and multitasking skills
· Ability to accurately execute detailed paperwork and condition reporting
· Team player, able to work with all levels of staff in a dynamic environment
· Comfortable in a results-driven workplace
· Experience with the use of hand trucks, pallet jacks, jbars, dollies and other necessary logistics equipment
· Ability to safely lift 70 pounds and maneuver objects of substantial size and weight on a daily basis without damage to object or person, including the ability to push and pull 150 pounds on a dolly or cart
· Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and reach overhead
