Larian is seeking an experienced, highly creative and motivated Senior Technical Rigger that will help us raise the bar in terms of quality, performance and technology of our rigging systems. As a Senior Technical rigger, you will be responsible for working together with the Art, Animation and the Technical Animation departments to bring to life incredible characters and creatures using a wide array of rigging and skinning techniques. Given that you will work with a multitude of people from different departments and timezones, good communication skills are a must as well as interest in not only your own craft but game development as a whole.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Rig and skin 3D assets (characters, creatures, props, sets, etc.) to achieve the intended animation performance for both gameplay and cinematics
- Support the Animation and Art teams, fulfilling as much as possible their in game and offline needs
- Support the junior and intermediate members of the team in order to help them raise their skills and standards
- Find balance between artistic aspects and technical constraints with the help of technical directors
- Be proactive and vocal about any issues encountered in our rigging pipeline and communicate with the Production team in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot, maintain and improve rigs in production, while ensuring their stability for the animation team
- Work closely with modeling team to assess asset topology and provide notes as needed
- Research, build and develop unique and one-off rigs
- Follow and enforce rigging standards for assets going into production
- Communicate with the production team any concerns or production issues ahead of time
- Support the Lead of the department in any ad hoc tasks and duties
REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
- Thorough understanding of rigging and deformation techniques in Maya (or any other DCC package)
- Proven record of creating highly complex rigs either for games or the TV/film industry
- Excellent knowledge of scripting languages such as Python
- A solid 3D Math background
- Excellent communication, time management, problem-solving skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
- Willing to take on new challenges and a strong appetite for learning, researching and developing
- Team oriented and has a strong desire for collaborative participation in a team-based pipeline across different geographic locations
- Able to take direction and feedback positively, adapt to change and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines
- Enthusiastic, methodical and organized approach to work with high quality standards
- Sense of initiative, originality and resourcefulness in problem solving
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience rigging in Motionbuilder
- Experience using other game engines (e.g. Unreal/Unity or proprietary tech) with relation to Animation
- Experience with C++ is highly advantageous.
