Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Art Curator to lead the selection, research, and curation of artworks within our portfolio. This role requires a deep understanding of the contemporary and blue-chip art market, extensive industry connections, and the ability to assess both artistic and financial value. The ideal candidate will work closely with our acquisition team, market analysts, and collection managers to ensure that our portfolio remains strategically positioned for long-term appreciation.
Key Responsibilities- Art Selection & Acquisition: Identify, research, and recommend artworks for acquisition in alignment with the fund’s investment strategy.
- Market Analysis & Trends: Stay ahead of market developments, emerging artists, and blue-chip opportunities to guide purchasing decisions.
- Industry Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with galleries, auction houses, private collectors, and institutions to source high-value artworks.
- Provenance & Due Diligence: Collaborate with legal and research teams to verify authenticity, provenance, and potential legal risks associated with acquisitions.
- Collection Curation & Strategy: Ensure the fund’s portfolio is balanced across artistic movements, time periods, and market segments to optimize value growth.
- Exhibition & Placement: Advise on the strategic loaning or exhibiting of artworks in major institutions to enhance reputation and market value.
- Advisory & Reporting: Provide insights on market positioning, collection performance, and upcoming opportunities to the fund’s management team.
Qualifications & Experience- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in curatorial roles, preferably within a major gallery, museum, auction house, or private collection.
- Expertise in contemporary and blue-chip art, with a strong track record in acquisitions and curation.
- Extensive industry network with established relationships among dealers, collectors, and institutions.
- Deep knowledge of provenance research, authentication processes, and market valuation methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills to assess both artistic and financial value of artworks.
- Experience collaborating with investment or financial professionals is a plus.
- Ability to travel internationally for art fairs, auctions, and exhibitions as needed.
