Director of Sales and Revenue Forecasting
Location: Virtual, remote worker location possible
Studio Business Group (SBG) is looking for Director of Sales and Revenue Forecasting who will be responsible for ensuring that all 1st party games have a robust and credible sales and revenue forecast at any stage of it lifecycle – from early concepting to post-launch live operations. This is a newly formed role and team amalgamating responsibilities that until now have been performed by many part of the organization into one end to end team covering all sales and revenue forecasting analysis under one team. You will be leading a team of sales and forecasting specialists accountable for ensuring that credible, robust and up to date forecast is in place supporting investment decisions, project progress reviews, short term and long-term plans. The role will report via Finance line who will have an ultimate decision about the forecast but will require collaboration with various teams ensuring right assumptions and input drives the forecast: strategy and portfolio, market and audience research, player testing, product management, studios and developer and marketing to name some. It is a high visibility and high-profile role that will be in the center of many decision making processes and therefore we are looking for candidate who will have sound and solid gaming market understanding, solid judgement and objectivity and ability to remain objective and resilient under stakeholder pressures.
Responsibilities:
• Ownership and responsibility for sales and revenue forecasting supporting all processes such as investment decisions, title progress reviews, short -term and long term business planning
• Ownership for forecasting of traditional games portfolio as well as live games including post launch engagement and monetization
• Ownership for developing and maintaining robust, fit-for-purpose sales and revenue forecasting methodology that takes into account impact of multiple factors but ultimately results in objective and robust forecast correctly reflecting the target player audience size, market risks and product features
• Ensuring forecasting capabilities are developed and improved on PlayStation and other gaming formats
• Clarify, explain and defend forecast vis-à-vis multiple stakeholders such as developer studios, product management, sales and marketing, finance as well as SGB Group Leadership
• Develop and present sales and revenue forecasting in business decision meeting with senior stakeholders
• Build, coach and develop, motivate and team of sales and revenue forecasting professionals ensuring forecasting talent bench is developed, maintained and expanded
• Staying apprised of broader industry developments and key business metrics and industry trends and benchmarking analysis of the gaming industry
• Provide ad-hoc analysis and presentations for leadership team
• The role will also have line management responsibility for growing team of player insights scientist supporting forecasting (exact reporting line structure within team to be determined later)
Qualifications & Skills:
• BA/BS in business, strategy, finance, economics or related field; MBA and/or CFA designation preferred
• 12-15+ years of experience in roles in such as marker research, strategy and business intelligence, finance, product management
• Experience in gaming industry and/or is a strong preference; preferably some in game performance forecasting role; the role will require frequent interfacing with stakeholder with many years in industry
• Deep gaming market understanding as well as market analysis skills
• Data driven approach combined with robust judgement and objectivity
• Resilience under pressure including from senior stakeholders
• Self-starter, showing initiative and ability to work independently
• Passion and energy for working in gaming industry
• Strong communication and presentation skills;
• Experience in leading teams: passion for building effective, motivated and professional teams
• Strong work ethic and confidentiality a must
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross functional teams
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and working under time constraints
