Job Summary:
The Head of Design leads and provides recommendations during concept development, studies existing product and mentors the design team. Reporting directly to the President, and while collaborating with the V.P of Sales and the Fashion Director, this position is accountable for all product development from initial concept to line production.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the e-Commerce, Wholesale Sales, Merchandising and Marketing divisions to establish the brand’s USA design vision and strategy ensuring cohesiveness with brand global identity
- Exhibit updated design skills, including sketching, trends, fabric sourcing and development, color choice, new design tools and technologies
- Ensure quality control maintaining brand design standards, guidelines and best protocol for executing new design campaigns
- Develop and or maintain design process for all seasonal and collection initiatives, including product sketch volumes, ensuring deliverable dates, budget expectations
- Liaise between internal development teams and external factories and or suppliers
- Lead and mentor design team, with a focus on fostering teamwork
Qualifications:
- 10+ years Fashion design / CAD. Focus on womenswear contemporary fit preferred
- 5+ years working with factories and suppliers
- Expert in garment construction, patternmaking, fabric sourcing and development
- High taste level design creativity with an excellent eye for detail and color
- Strong research skills for design and fashion industry/market purposes
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Adobe illustrator, and Photoshop
- PLM and other programs alike, a plus
