Jeopardy!, one of the most watched shows on television, is seeking a
Researcher to join the team. Are you a treasure trove of esoteric knowledge and thrive on diving deep into a variety of topics? Do you proudly embrace your inner nerd? If so, this is the job for you! Collaborating directly with the show’s (co-)Head Writers, in this key role you'll use your keen research skills to ensure that all on-air content is accurate, inclusive, and engaging for our viewers. Most importantly, this position will have the opportunity to make a great impact on the quality of the show, ensuring Jeopardy!’s brand and reputation remain at a high standard. In addition to working on the regular syndicated show, this Researcher position may have the opportunity to work on spin-off shows such as, Celebrity Jeopardy! and Pop Culture Jeopardy!
Core Responsibilities Include (but Not Limited To)
- Rigorously verify individual clues for accuracy (ie. Grammar, spelling, fact checking, etc.), and ensuring each clue can only correspond to a single, correct response.
- Leverage various verified resources, including online databases, reference books, and expert interviews, to ensure content is accurately formulated and engaging.
- Collaborate with fellow researchers and head writers to refine and reword inaccurate or unclear clues, and develop substitute clues that align with the designated categories.
- Identify and resolve conflicts within game sets by thoroughly verifying test questions and ensuring consistency across all content.
- Assist the show host with the accurate pronunciation of clues, providing guidance to enhance presentation quality.
- Conduct thorough reviews of all game materials to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Stay informed about current events and cultural trends to keep content relevant and engaging for the audience.
- Organize and update a database of questions and clues, categorizing them by topic and difficulty level for easy access.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, media studies, or a related discipline) or equivalent experience, including teaching, journalism, or research for television shows.
- Strong writing skills with a solid grasp of grammar and sentence structure.
- Exceptional research abilities and keen attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in order to clearly convey research findings to producers, writers, and other team members.
- Familiarity with trivia, game mechanics, and television production.
- Passion for games, entertainment, and audience engagement.
- Broad knowledge of academic, lifestyle, and pop culture subjects.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment and embrace feedback as a growth opportunity.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with information sources across various organizations.
- Ability to thrive under pressure, particularly during production crises when you must quickly adjust to changing show formats.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $70,654 to $91,850. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
