Who we are
A Thinking Ape builds communities through mobile games with emergent social play and original IP. We released our first game in 2009 and have been profitable and growing every year since. Our small teams have a big focus on ownership and data-driven decision-making. Our portfolio of games are growing and we are scaling our team to bring our games to more players.
The job
This is an exciting opportunity for a current Art student at a Canadian post secondary institution graduating later than September 2025 looking to gain experience at a mobile game studio. Your work will play an essential role in creating exciting new content that millions of people love and use every day. You will have the chance to learn about the entire mobile game production pipeline and create art that will be used and seen by millions of players around the world. You will join a team that is operating a live mobile game, and will work with game designers, engineers and resident artists. Compensation for this role is CAD $5,000 / month.
The team
You’ll be working on the Live Operations team, on the social mobile game “Party in my Dorm”. You will join a team made up of engineers, artists, and game designers working across our live games and will work in collaboration with many other roles on the team.
Things you will work on
- Create production-level art assets, concepts, and characters
- Contribute to the creation of different in-game events and promotions
- Work side-by-side with other ATA artists to create 2D art for our existing products
The primary qualifications we’re looking for are
- You have the versatility to conceptualize various art styles and genres and your portfolio shows this
- You have a strong understanding of art principles and elements, especially human anatomy
- You are interested in the social mobile gaming industry
- You are an excellent communicator and know how to manage your own time
- You have an interest in fashion and/or design trends
Some other things that help are
- Have worked on any games
- Have worked in collaborative, cross-functional environments
- Have any experience working in Photoshop

Remote work
We have committed to a remote approach. This means our roles are currently open to candidates who can work in Canada between the core hours of 11am - 4pm PST.
