The Role:
The Art and Photo Assistant will focus on supporting TIME’s visual teams with a range of tasks from creating daily photo-illustrations for TIME’s digital platforms to photo shoot production assistance. The candidate should exhibit a passion for art and photography, and have a thirst for learning what goes into a wide range of image-making. The Art and Photo Assistant will also work on the digital production and presentation for special projects and major franchises. This is a junior-level role but does require a track record of exceptional attention to detail and a portfolio of relevant creative work.
Responsibilities:
- Creating original photo-illustrations and collages for digital articles on a daily basis
- Coordinating and creating visuals for fast-paced social content
- Supporting the newsletter teams in showcasing the strongest visuals
- Assisting with digital production across different projects
- Conducting photo research and image licensing from a variety of sources
- Responding to image requests from the editorial team in a timely manner
- Supporting Photo Editors with photo shoot production
- Supporting Art Directors with digital file production

Qualifications:
- Generally requires at least 1 year of experience. Internships and campus roles count!
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva with portfolio of relevant examples
- Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to prioritize when given a range of tasks with different deadlines
- A skill for finding visual solutions to challenging stories
- A strong knowledge of and curiosity about current events
- Urgent, accurate and ethical behavior in a breaking news environment
- Familiarity with sourcing photography from agencies, wires, archives, or independent photographers
- Education or experience in graphic design
- Enthusiastic about innovation, positive-change and collaboration.

Location
This is a hybrid role. Eligible candidates for the role must be within a commutable distance of TIME’s New York City office upon hire and may be expected to be physically present as needed (typically 3 days/week).
